Michael Goldberg graduated from Dorsey High School of Los Angeles in 1965. He attended the University of California, Los Angeles and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science in 1969. He went on to graduate from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law.

In 2007, David began his graduate studies at San Joaquin College of Law.
He received his Juris Doctor and was admitted to the bar in 2010. While at SJCL he founded the student organization LawSUIT (Law Students United in Tolerance) and served as President of the organization for three years. He was awarded Student of the Year in 2008 and he also served as the Student Bar Association class Representative and President. He was a member of Delta Theta Phi Law fraternity and he interned for the Public Defender's office.
He is currently a member of the La Raza Lawyers Association and California Applicant Attorney Association. Mr. Ibarra and his wife, Jennell Casillas, founded the Ibarra/Casillas Scholarship for SJCL law students. Mr. Ibarra is currently an Associate attorney of the Goldberg Law Firm and practices Worker's Compensation, Social Security, and Personal Injury.
